Leandro Trossard fires unconvincing Arsenal to rare away victory at Everton

Leandro Trossard’s goal ended Arsenal’s woeful run at Goodison Park but the nature of their 1-0 victory over Everton was far from convincing for would-be Premier League title contenders.

The Belgium international’s second league goal for the club he joined in January was a paltry return for the dominance the Gunners enjoyed but it proved enough to halt a sequence of four defeats and a draw in L4.

But it was enough to extend this season’s unbeaten run and lift them back to within two points of leaders Manchester City and behind only Tottenham and Liverpool on goal difference.

A BIG team win

Bayern Munich condemn racist abuse of Coman after World Cup final

Coman was introduced as a 71st-minute substitute with France 2-0 down on Sunday, making a positive impact as Kylian Mbappe s hat-trick helped Les Bleus force spot-kicks at the end of a pulsating 3-3 draw.

However, the winger was the first player to fail to convert in the shoot-out as Emiliano Martinez made a strong save to his right, before midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni put France s next kick wide.

Mourinho´s standards have dropped – Bilic

Bilic takes his side to Old Trafford twice in the next five days, in the Premier League on Sunday and the EFL Cup quarter-finals next Wednesday, and is likely to be afforded a hot reception after his assertion that Mourinho is not achieving the success he once was.

Jose Mourinho is one of the greatest, Bilic told the BBC.

Statistically at home, there is probably no-one better. But it s hard to stay at that standard and maybe that has dropped now.

Mourinho once held the most envied home league record in world football with a nine-year unbeaten run across spells at Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid.

The Chelsea Pride fan group condemned homophobic chants that were heard during the first half of the Blues Premier League game against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Moments after Chelsea took the lead in Sunday s contest, a chant of Chelsea rent boys was audible in the ground and on Sky Sports television coverage.

The chant was defined in January 2022 as a hate crime by the Crown Prosecution Service, with Chelsea welcoming that decision at the time.

It has not been eradicated, though, and remains a slur occasionally aimed at Chelsea players and supporters.

Chelsea Pride, which describes itself as the club s official LGBTQ+ and Friends Supporters Group, said such a chant was unacceptable.

The group said in a statement: We totally condemn th…
